Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Trainmaster in the Chicago area to optimize yard and road operations, coordinating daily plans with a focus on safety and efficiency. You will guide crews, monitor LOSP/OP, and drive improvements across terminal activities.

Ideal candidates will have conductor experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills to relay instructions clearly. This role may require varied shifts and adherence to CROR/GCOR standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years supervisory experience in logistics or operations preferred.
• Conductor experience required; locomotive engineer qualification an asset.
• Strong communication skills, ability to read/understand English safety instructions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee yard and road traffic plans to meet LOSP and OP.
• Supervise train movements and ensure safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics.
• Lead safety compliance and provide corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct investigations and support derailment/incident response as required.
• Manage terminal and line-of-road inventory and coach Train & Engine staff.
