Job summary

CPKC in Marquette, Iowa is hiring a Trainmaster to drive efficient movement of traffic within yard and road networks, developing and ensuring daily operating plans are safe and cost-effective.

You will lead by example to strengthen the safety culture, coach Train & Engine teams, and coordinate with internal and external partners to meet LOSP and OP goals while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Railway experience as conductor required; engineer qualification asset.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 2+ years supervisory experience in logistics or operations is a plus.
• English literacy and ability to read safety instructions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate yard and road plans to optimize LOSP and OP.
• Oversee train movements safely with supervision and radio communication.
• Ensure safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics for the terminal.
• Lead safety compliance and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents per company policies and bargaining agreement.
• Conduct efficiency tests and training rides; may attend derailments.
