Job summary

Patriot Rail is seeking a skilled supervisor to oversee train crews within yard operations, ensuring safe and efficient switching, loading, and formation of trains. You will read and execute orders, manage car movements, and maintain accurate reporting and documentation.

The role requires three years of trainmen experience, current locomotive engineer and conductor certifications, and strong knowledge of federal railroad regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of trainmen experience required.
• Must hold locomotive engineer and conductor certifications.
• Knowledge of federal railroad regulations, guidelines, and rules.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, manuals, regulations and memos.
• Ability to communicate instructions clearly in written, oral, diagrammatic, and scheduled form.
• Ability to train switch crews and yard personnel on duties, regulations and safety rules.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and respond quickly in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of train crews.
• Receive switching instructions indicating which cars to switch.
• Notify Conductor of switching orders and movements within yard.
• Manage cars and track switches to load/unload or form trains.
• Ensure accuracy of daily train lists and reporting.
• Complete investigations of accidents/incidents with causes and remedies.
