Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a Documentation Specialist to interpret complex specifications and ensure materials meet customer requirements and Carpenter capabilities. The role involves reviewing specifications, coordinating changes across departments, and supporting training and audits.

You will work within a quality-centric environment, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO, ASTM and related standards, while helping maintain KPIs and ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

• Review new and revised specifications to identify material and quality characteristics across chemistry, mechanical, structural and nondestructive testing.
• Validate Carpenter's capacity to produce material meeting all stipulations and refer requirements beyond capability for resolution.
• Input or abstract specification requirements into Carpenter's electronic database and identify errors during re-review.
• Understand and adhere to customer and industry requirements including AS9100, EU Directive, ISO, ASTM and customer quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Draft and issue exception letters to document proposed alternative requirements or refusals.
• Coordinate changes to specification requirements across departments.
• Engage with external customers, suppliers and third-party audits related to certifications and quality systems.
• Assist with training new employees on basic daily tasks.
