Job Summary


Responsible for all assigned quality components and standards within the facility. This includes coordination with Production Supervisors, Quality Technologists, Quality techs, and the support of facilitating standardization of all quality processes such as raw material verification, in-process quality inspection, formula verification, finished products, responding, tracking customer complaints, and support customer and SQF initiatives.



Duties and Responsibilities



  • Complete Special Projects with minimal assistance from Quality Manager

  • Effectively manage his/her time relative to short, medium and long-term Quality Department goals with minimal assistance once vision, strategy, and goals have been established with the Quality, Food Safety, and Sanitation Managers



  • Support and/or lead Quality initiatives as assigned by the Quality Manager to include but not limited to:



  • Supporting current SQF manufacturing and quality certifications as it relates to review and filing of all daily paperwork.

  • Supporting Organic and Gluten Free Certifications as it relates to review and filing of all daily paperwork.

  • Completion and delivery of all COA's for finished products per customer specifications.

  • Sending out finished products or raw materials to an outside Lab for analysis and tracking of the samples

  • Rotation of all files and completion of destruction records as needed.

  • Following up on consumer complaints and logging them for trending

  • Adhering to GMP's, both personal and operational when in the plant

  • Drive improvements in proactive relationship with customers and consumers

  • Be Knowledgeable of all aspects of Quality relative to QA tests, lab procedures, and customer specifications.



  • Support future Quality Management Systems implementation plan





Relationships/Contacts



  • Coordinate Customer Affairs (complaint process) to include respond track, trend quality and food safety issues.


Qualifications



  • 2+ years of college experience in one of the major sciences (Chemistry, biology, food science, etc.)

  • 2-5 years responsibility in a Supervisory role within a lab/Testing environment



Required Skills/Abilities



  • Ability to analyze processes with a general understanding of the science which supports items related to product quality.

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to improve teamwork within the quality department and other areas.

  • Good problem-solving skills and corrective action/resolution skills. Experience with Corrective Action Systems and must possess very good organizational skills.

  • Strong computer skills with experience using Word, excel, Access, Power Point



Preferred Skills



  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • SQF Practitioner Certification

  • HACCP Training

  • PCQI Certification

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
