Job summary

The Shelly Company is seeking a QC Technician to conduct aggregate and asphalt tests to ensure conformance with required specifications. This role involves monitoring mix quality, adjusting composition, and supporting field installation activities with limited supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, familiarity with ASTM/AASHTO tests, basic computer skills, and the ability to travel for site work. Night and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests per ASTM/AASHTO.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and basic operating procedures.
• Ability to perform basic reading and math tasks.

Responsibilities

• Test materials to determine weight, gravity, temperature, thickness, and gradation.
• Monitor the quality of hot mix asphalt for specific jobs.
• Input test results into computers in laboratories and remote locations.
• Calibrate and use a density meter.
• Communicate test results and adjust processes to specifications.
• Perform duties with limited or no supervision.
