Job summary

The Shelly Company, a CRH Company, is seeking a Quality Control Technician to test asphalt mix and aggregate, ensuring conformity to specifications and monitoring density and thickness during installation.

You will assist in adjusting mix components, communicate results to paving personnel, and perform standard lab tests in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO standards. Expect shift variability, overtime, and travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards.
• Ability to detect safety hazards and respond accordingly.
• Ability to operate a two‑way radio; willingness to obtain ODOT Testing Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Test materials to determine weight, gravity, temperature, thickness, and gradation of mix components.
• Monitor quality of hot mix asphalt pavement on specific jobs.
• Input test results into computers in laboratories and remote locations; communicate results to crew.
