Job summary

The Shelly Company is seeking an Asphalt QC Technician to perform tests on aggregate and asphalt mix per specifications, track results, and assist in mix adjustments. You may work shifts including nights and overtime as needed.

You will monitor temperatures, thickness, density, and overall pavement quality, ensuring compliance with safety policies and company ethics while supporting field crews and sample documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equal skill level.
• Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards.
• Knowledge of asphalt plant basics and related procedures.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental controls.
• Ability to obtain Level 2/3 ODOT testing certifications in a reasonable time.

Responsibilities

• Test materials safely and efficiently.
• Verify mix specifications and adjust as needed.
• Monitor temperature, thickness and density of pavements.
• Record results and communicate results to team.
• Calibrate density meter and use equipment properly.
• Support paving personnel to meet specs and timelines.
