Job summary

nVent is seeking a dedicated CNC machinist to operate CNC equipment, load materials, and inspect machined parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Centralia, IL.

You will ensure quality, safety, and productivity by following drawings, maintaining records, and collaborating with teammates on production runs. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods, and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Experience with CNC operation and inspection of parts.
  • Proficiency with basic measuring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines to fabricate parts.
  • Load/unload materials and set up for runs.
  • Detect malfunctions and report tool wear or damage.
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized work area.
  • Perform standard machine shop duties and inspections.
  • Read drawings and complete part paperwork.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Operate computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts
  • Load and unload materials onto the machine
  • Detects Malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools
  • Load cut parts on to racks, skids and/or shelves
  • Connect with co-workers regarding production runs
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area.
  • Perform typical machine shop operations
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to manager or supervisor
  • May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Perform the following CNC related duties: power up and power down, lock out/tag out, calling up and entering CNC programs, complete operator maintenance functions, operate machine, handle material
  • Perform inspection of the machined products
  • Complete and maintain paperwork for parts
  • Perform Fabrication
  • Lift up to 50 lb
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to work overtime on an as needed basis
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Use basic measuring tools
  • Able to follow all safety and environmental guidelines

Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range: $14.80 - $27.50 Per Hour Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
