Job summary

nVent is seeking a Quality Inspector for our Illinois operations. The role involves inspecting output samples, reading blueprints, and ensuring production lines meet standards. You will record results, train teams on QC measures, and assist in developing tests and inspection plans to drive product quality.

Candidates should have 1–3 years in manufacturing quality, strong attention to detail, and basic computer skills. Proficiency with measurement tools and data analysis is essential for success.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect output samples using industry-appropriate methods
  • Verify assembly lines adhere to standards and procedures
  • Read blueprints and manuals to determine specs and inspection procedures
  • Record inspection results and input data into quality database
  • Train production team on quality control measures
  • Propose improvements to the production process
  • Use gauges to measure products and assist calibration processes
  • Collect and compile statistical quality data
  • Assist in developing test methods and inspection plans
  • Help determine causes of defects and reworks
  • Discard items not meeting specifications
  • Discuss results with product owners and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain Document Control

Job description

In this position, you will get to:
  • Inspect output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality
  • Check that the assembly or production line adheres to standards, and procedures, and complies with set requirements
  • Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures
  • Record inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database
  • Train the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence
  • Propose improvements to the production process
  • Use gauges such as calipers and micrometers to measure products, and assist in the equipment is calibration processes
  • Collect and compiling statistical quality data
  • Assist in the development of test methods and inspection plans
  • Assist in determining the causes of product defects and reworks
  • Discard or rejecting products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommending necessary corrective actions
  • Assist in maintaining Document Control
You have:
  • 1-3 years previous experience in Quality in a manufacturing setting.
  • High school degree; Further qualifications will be a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail to be able to identify defects and inconsistencies in products or services
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of the production process, materials and quality control standards
  • Analytical skills to interpret and analyze data from the testing processes
  • Mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations
  • Problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of quality issues and suggest effective solutions
  • Communication skills to effectively relay information about quality issues and solutions to teams and management

Position requires you to be on your feet throughout shift. Bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 lbs. may be required. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel)

nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range: $20.40 - $37.80 Per Hour Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
