Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Greater Boston is seeking a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist to support a new pulmonary program for residents and future residents. The RT will implement treatments under physician orders, collaborate with nursing leadership, and help reduce rehospitalizations while improving ADLs.

Responsibilities include treatment administration, infection control, patient education, and daily shift operations. MA licensure, CRT/RRT, ACLS/BLS are required for this role.

Qualifications

  • Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Possesses and maintains an active CRT or RRT credential.
  • Current ACLS and BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides respiratory care services under physician orders, department policies and state/federal guidelines.
  • Administers respiratory therapy treatments and interventions and explains potential side effects.
  • Assesses patient pain impacting rehabilitation and coordinates nursing intervention.
  • Follows infection control and sterilization procedures for equipment.
  • Documents data in the patient’s medical record after Pulmonary Program activities.
  • Operates and inspects respiratory therapy equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Maintains knowledge of oxygen therapy hazards and safety measures.
  • Develops care plans based on learning needs and involves patient families.
  • Coordinates patient care with nurses, Director of Nursing, Administrator and Physicians.
  • Performs daily shift operations, assigns work, troubleshoots, responds to emergencies.

Education

Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure
Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy
Active CRT or RRT credential
Current ACLS and BLS Certification
