Equipment Operator II pay range for this posting is $46,035 - $82,862

Equipment Operator III pay range for this posting is $48,105 - $86,590

AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:

Maintain and operate automated/knuckle boom trucks and be responsible for routine maintenance procedures, safe and effective operating, and loading and storing the equipment.

AS AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR III IN SOLID WASTE YOU WILL:

Plan, coordinate, and perform daily solid waste collections for all City of Hampton Solid Waste customers. The incumbent must operate an automated refuse truck, knuckle boom truck, front-end loader at the yard waste site, semi-automated rear loader, and a tractor-trailer.

Minimum Requirements for Equipment Operator II:

• High school diploma or GED.
• One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in a solid waste position or a closely related experience.
• Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
• This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and the City’s current substance abuse policy.
• Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
