Job summary

The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority is seeking a diligent Cashier/Customer Service Representative to handle clerical tasks, customer inquiries, and billing transactions. The role supports service accounts, processes payments, and maintains accurate records in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a High School diploma and relevant experience in public contact work, with strong math and communication skills. Overtime may be required to meet emergencies and customer needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; coursework in commercial subjects.
• Progressively responsible experience in public contact work.
• Experience in collecting and accounting for large sums of money.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to obtain information for opening service accounts.
• Complete applications, adjust bills, apply deposits or transfer balances.
• Write letters to explain adjustments and changes on accounts.
• Respond to inquiries from customers in clear, simple language.
• Discuss service installations, disconnects or changes with customers.
• Research or review files to clarify customer billing or balances.
• Type corrected bills and correspondence; file documents.
• Maintain daily log of customer visits and telephone assistance.
• Collect cash payments, mail payments, and bank payments; issue receipts.
• Count money to verify amounts and issue change.
