Job summary

NWN in Boston is seeking a Business Architect to lead presales for Public Safety, advising on architecture, requirements, and high level designs for NG911, cloud call handling, CAD, mapping and security. You will develop SOWs, BOMs and proposals while coordinating with sales and product teams.

The role requires 5+ years in Public Safety, strong cross-functional collaboration, and vendor certifications. Remote US work is available; travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in CS/IS or related field.
• 4–6 years leading technical projects in integration or support services.
• 5+ years designing complex communications systems.
• 5+ years in Public Safety communications; knowledge of Motorola VESTA 9-1-1/VESTA NXT and NG911.
• Sales Engineer/Solution Architect experience in public safety with complex sales cycles.
• Strong knowledge of emergency communications tech: cloud call handling, CAD, analytics, location services, AI, cybersecurity.
• Experience with partner ecosystems and cross-functional collaboration in a solutions-provider.
• Familiarity with IP networking, security, virtualization, and data center solutions.
• Vendor certifications in Public Safety tech preferred; AVIXA, Cisco a plus.
• Certifications in Route Switch, VoIP, UC, Contact Center, Wireless, Server, Storage, Virtualization, etc. required.
• Defined area of specialization supported by certification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead technical resource during presales, advising on Public Safety solutions.
• Drive technology evaluation, client discovery (on-site/remote), requirements, architecture, and presentations.
• Develop SOWs, BOMs, system designs, and proposals for NG911, cloud call handling, and more.
• Prepare quotes, support sales cycle from discovery to post-sale tech assistance.
• Build relations with vendor partners; collaborate with NWN Product Management.
• Work cross-functionally with EMP, networking, cybersecurity, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Attend onsite meetings and industry events with sales reps; support deal closures.
• Resolve technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction; provide vendor-trained guidance.
• Contribute to RFP responses and technical docs for public safety agencies.
• Maintain ongoing professional development and certifications; perform internal training as needed.
