Job summary

NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services seeks skilled maintenance personnel to operate, repair, and maintain 56 city-owned buildings. The role focuses on routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs to electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.

Under direct supervision, you will assist in building operations and repairs, maintain records, and perform tasks to ensure safe, energy-efficient spaces for city tenants. NYC residency within 90 days may apply; 55a program eligible.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson or helper in the electrical trades, the mechanical trades, or the construction or maintenance of buildings.
• At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, adjusts and makes minor repairs of building hardware, furniture, shelving and equipment.
• Replaces broken window and door glass
• Repairs windows and sashes
• Makes minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring and walls
• Makes minor repairs to building electrical, plumbing and heating systems
