Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a skilled field technician to install, test, and maintain protective relaying and metering systems in transmission and distribution environments.

You will interpret schematics, perform diagnostic testing, and coordinate repairs to ensure reliability and safety of electrical infrastructure. The role requires travel up to 50% domestically and internationally, with emphasis on field testing, commissioning, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant electrical experience OR an associate's degree with 4+ years of experience OR a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals
• Strong knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC and OSHA electrical safety standards
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%–50%
• Valid/active U.S. work authorization

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and maintain protective relaying and metering systems.
• Analyze test results and interpret diagrams to locate equipment faults.
• Coordinate testing, troubleshooting and repairs with other departments.
• Commissions new relay and metering installations and ensures startup.
• Maintain detailed test reports and compliance documentation.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians.
