Job summary

PowerX is seeking a P&C Test Engineer II to execute relay protection testing within commissioning projects. You will work under Senior or Lead oversight on substation equipment testing, relay protection, breaker controls, CT/VT testing, and documentation.

The role emphasizes growing independence, understanding protection schemes, and safe work practices across distribution and transmission substations up to 765kV.

Qualifications

• Duties require executing relay protection testing tasks and interpreting test results.
• Experience with test platforms and reproducible test documentation desired.
• Ability to read one-lines, schematics and wiring diagrams and navigate test plans.

Responsibilities

• Execute relay protection testing tasks using Doble, Omicron, RTS, SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista and similar platforms under supervision.
• Perform relay input/output testing, metering checks, and element pickup/timing tests with accurate results.
• Test CT/VT, including ratio, polarity, phasing, and grounding verification on standard configurations.
• Test breaker control circuits including trip paths and auxiliary contacts under guidance.
• Read and navigate electrical diagrams and panel layouts with confidence.
• Apply protection theory and equipment relationships to testing and documentation.
