Job summary

POWERX is a leading provider of engineering, protection and control, commissioning, and NETA field services for power infrastructure in the United States and Canada. We are seeking a Test Engineer II to execute relay protection testing, breaker control tests, CT/VT measurements, and related documentation under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Engineer.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years of experience in high-voltage Protection & Control testing and commissioning, required.
• Familiar with SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse, or equivalent relay platforms, required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology, or an Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field experience preferred.
• Experience commissioning substations from 12.5kV through 245kV preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Knowledge of the NEC and OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices is preferred.
• First Aid / CPR certification preferred.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute relay protection testing tasks with platforms such as Doble, Omicron, RTS, SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista under Senior or Lead oversight.
• Read and navigate one-lines, schematics, and panel layouts to support testing.
• Prepare turnover documentation and commissioning packages for client delivery.
• Maintain complete and accurate test records and daily field reports.
• Support safety procedures and deliver high-quality commissioning outcomes.
