Job summary

Shermco Industries seeks a Relay Tech/Protection & Controls Technician in Texas. You will install, test, and maintain protective relay systems, RTUs, and telecom equipment for HV substations and utilities, with travel to client sites. Strong experience with SEL/GE/ABB relays is required.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in engineering or military electrical training and have 5+ years in electrical testing, including protection and control. OT and advancement opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in electrical testing with protection and control equipment.
• BS in engineering/tech or military electrical training.
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays (SEL/GE/ABB).

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and related hardware.
• Perform functional testing for protection circuits on transmission lines and substations.
• Upgrade RTUs and telecom equipment for various clients.
• Work with SEL, GE, ABB relays and other processors (C30, D60, F35 etc.).
• Review and submit test reports for client/regulatory use.
• Read wiring/schematic diagrams and verify configurations.
