Job summary

Shermco is seeking a Relay Tech/ Protection and Controls specialist in Texas to install, test, and service protective relay equipment for transmission and distribution systems. The role requires 5+ years in electrical testing with RTU, telecom, and HV utility clients.

The position involves fieldwork, reading schematics, and reporting test results; travel to client sites is extensive, with a robust OT program and opportunities for training and career growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical testing with protection and control
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Westinghouse)
• Experience with RTUs, telecom equipment and substation systems
• Familiar with NERC CIP requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and pass drug/background checks

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment
• Conduct functional testing of protection and control circuits
• Upgrade RTU and telecom systems for clients
• Review and submit test reports for clients/regulators
• Read one-line/three-line diagrams and wiring schematics
• Maintain company vehicle and complete time/expense reports
