Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) in Raleigh, NC seeks a Senior Relay Technician to lead protection and control testing for substation and industrial systems. You will perform advanced testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and project execution while guiding field teams.

You will interface with customers, manage safety, and drive reliability and performance across projects, with mentoring responsibilities for junior staff and technicians.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission, generation, or distribution substations.
• Pre-employment drug screening is required for safety.
• Ability to travel and work overtime as needed.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Lead job site safety briefings and enforce safety policies.
• Analyze protection schemes for power circuits and systems.
• Perform installation, commissioning, testing, and functional testing of substation relay panels.
• Read and validate protection and control schematics and diagrams.
• Lead root cause analyses for relay trips and disturbances.
• Develop project execution plans and commissioning procedures.
• Coordinate resources and field activities to ensure project completion.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports and commissioning documentation.
• Mentor Relay Technician I/II and junior engineers.
