Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Protection & Automation Electrical Engineering Intern for Spring 2027, based near Wendell, NC. The program rotates through Protection & Automation teams to expose you to the full project lifecycle and engineering activities.

The role requires pursuing an EE/CE/Power Systems degree, ability to work up to 29 hours weekly, and US work authorization. On-site presence varies by team placement, with hands-on testing and design exposure.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to work part-time (up to 29 hours per week) during spring 2027.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship and within 50 miles of Wendell, NC.
  • On-site work requirement will vary by team placement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of protection relays, RTUs, and HMIs.
  • Support engineering design with AC/DC schematics and wiring/logic diagrams.
  • Use digital twin technology to simulate protection relay signals in a virtual environment.
  • Contribute to projects involving microgrids, PV, and battery storage.
  • Support proposal development and post-delivery activities within PPA teams.
