Job summary

Siemens is seeking students pursuing associate degrees to join our Protection & Automation Internship Training Program in Wendell, NC, for hands-on experience building and testing control panels used to protect and automate electrical substations powering utilities, data centers, and critical infrastructure.

You'll work alongside experienced Siemens technicians and engineers while developing practical skills that can lead to full-time opportunities after graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire industrial control panels for electrical substations
  • Learn wire cutting, crimping, routing, and assembly techniques using Siemens standards
  • Support electrical testing, safety checks, continuity testing, and documentation
  • Gain exposure to fiber optical and Ethernet testing
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) with Siemens engineers and customers
  • Learn how protection relays and automation devices are applied in modern power systems

Are you interested in electrical systems, automation, and hands‑on technical work? Siemens is seeking students pursuing associate degrees to join our Protection & Automation Internship Training Program in Wendell, NC.

This internship offers real‑world experience building and testing the control panels used to protect and automate electrical substations that power utilities, data centers, and critical infrastructure. You'll work alongside experienced Siemens technicians and engineers while developing skills that can lead to full‑time career opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related Associate degree program
  • Interest in power systems, protection, and automation technologies
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
  • Siemens interns are also eligible to contribute to our 401(k) program.
