Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a claims professional in Madison, WI to investigate and manage property claims from initial report through resolution. The role may offer an Associate Adjuster level for candidates without a strong claims background, with compensation ranging from the mid to high range for the location.

Primary duties include evaluating coverage, coordinating appraisals, and negotiating settlements while providing clear updates to all parties.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims or equivalent experience.
• Solid knowledge of casualty coverages and endorsements.
• Solid knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, and other parties.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed; handles claims in good faith.
• Handles both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections when needed, evaluates damages, and negotiates settlements.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files as appropriate.
