Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking an experienced claims adjuster to investigate and manage property claims from initial report through resolution. Responsibilities include determining liability, gathering policy information, coordinating appraisals, and negotiating settlements.

Candidates without a strong claims background may be considered at the Associate Adjuster level, an hourly role to build foundational experience. Relocation is offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience handling customer-driven solutions and service requests.
• Experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Experience managing moderately complex claims.
• Solid knowledge of casualty coverages and endorsements.
• Understanding of all stages of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, and others.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed; handles claims in good faith.
• Manages 1st party and 3rd party claims across multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, negotiates with insureds and claimants.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files as appropriate.
• Interprets policies and endorsements and applies coverages to assigned losses.
• Keeps all parties informed about claim process and status; addresses questions.
• Opens to additional assignments based on skills and experience.
