Job summary

Henderson Group in Charlotte, NC seeks an experienced Project Manager for NCDOT heavy civil work, including roadways, bridges and utilities. You’ll manage projects end-to-end from preconstruction through closeout with a self-perform team.

The role demands a PM of record with NCDOT experience, strong cost control and scheduling skills, and the ability to lead field teams while coordinating with owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors. Relocation to Charlotte area is welcomed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as the Project Manager of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work for a contractor.
• Documented NCDOT project experience as the PM is required. Be ready to name the jobs.
• You have already run projects in their entirety. This is not a step up role for an APM or Project Engineer.
• Contractor side builders only. Consultant, design or inspection only backgrounds will not fit.
• Charlotte area candidates preferred. Candidates open to relocating are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects as the Project Manager of record, from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own the budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job you run.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and act on variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as the main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost, and report performance to leadership.
• Work with estimating on bids and the handoff so the job starts right.
• Keep a strong safety culture on every site.
