Job summary

Henderson Group Recruiting is seeking a Project Manager for NCDOT heavy civil work in Greensboro, NC, with projects across central North Carolina. You’ll oversee road, bridge and utility programs from preconstruction through closeout, leading field teams and coordinating with NCDOT, owners, engineers and inspectors.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years as PM of record on NCDOT projects, strong cost control and scheduling, and a willingness to relocate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as PM of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work for a contractor.
• NCDOT project experience as the PM is required.
• Must have run projects in their entirety; not an APM/Project Engineer.
• Contractor-side background only; consultants/inspections not suitable.
• Strong on cost control, schedules, change orders, and managing field teams.
• Vista and HCSS HeavyJob experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.
• OSHA 30 is a plus.
• Central North Carolina candidates preferred; relocation encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects as the Project Manager of record, from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own the budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job you run.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and act on variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as the main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost, and report performance to leadership.
• Work with estimating on bids and the handoff so the job starts right.
• Keep a strong safety culture on every site.
