Job summary

United Future in Greensboro, NC seeks a Project Manager to lead NCDOT heavy civil roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will manage budgets, schedules, costs and margins, while coordinating with owners, inspectors and subcontractors to ensure safety and quality across central North Carolina.

You will own project performance, drive change management, and report to senior leadership with a backlog of won work and a direct line to upper management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as PM of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work.
• Documented NCDOT project experience as the PM is required. Be ready to name the jobs.
• You have already run projects in their entirety. This is not a step up role for an APM or Project Engineer.
• Contractor side background only. Consultant/design/inspection backgrounds will not fit.
• Strong on cost control, schedules, change orders and managing field teams.
• Vista and HCSS HeavyJob experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent.
• OSHA 30 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own the budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job you run.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and act on variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as the main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost, and report performance to leadership.
• Work with estimating on bids and the handoff so the job starts right.
• Keep a strong safety culture on every site.
