Job summary

Apex Structural Engineering LLC is seeking a Project Engineer II in a hybrid work setting near Nashville. The role develops structural analysis and design skills while progressing toward greater independence under supervision.

The candidate will build proficiency in design software, model building, and construction documentation. Typical responsibilities include performing analyses, developing gravity and lateral models, evaluating loads per ASCE 7, and collaborating with BIM and project teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering is a plus.
• Typically two to four years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Progress toward PE and/or SE licensure, as applicable.
• Knowledge of structural load paths, load development, and ASCE 7 is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of increasingly complex components with guidance from more experienced engineers.
• Develop gravity and lateral building analysis models using preferred software, including 3D models.
• Evaluate building loads (gravity, wind, seismic, etc.) per ASCE 7 and project criteria.
• Review results for reasonableness and flag unusual forces or deflections for further work.
• Prepare organized calculations and documentation communicating assumptions and results.
• Read architectural/structural construction documents and use them to perform design tasks.
• Assist BIM/modeling team with engineering information for drawings and models.
• Participate in internal project meetings and coordinate with project managers.
