Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC is partnering with a heavy civil contractor in Tampa to hire a Project Engineer. This role drives engineering and project controls for FDOT-related highway and bridge work across Florida.

Ideal candidates have 5–8 years in civil construction (office and field), strong Primavera P6 and MS Office skills, and a track record of coordinating multiple activities. Relocation to the Tampa Bay area is welcome for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in civil construction, both office and field
• Experience managing multiple activities on heavy civil work
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• FDOT project experience is a plus
• HCSS HeavyJob experience is a plus
• Based in the Tampa Bay area or willing to relocate

Responsibilities

• Review the contract and specifications in their entirety
• Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent on day-to-day project needs
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy
• Keep NPDES permits, the SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements with the owner on track
