Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is hiring a Project Engineer for our Tampa, FL office. This role targets candidates with 5–8 years in civil construction who can own engineering and project controls for heavy civil highway work, including FDOT projects.

Relocation to the Tampa Bay area is welcome. You will support the Project Manager and Superintendent, manage schedules in Primavera P6, track costs, procure subcontractor pricing, and handle documentation and change orders while maintaining compliance with

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in the civil construction field, office and field.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering & Management emphasis.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• FDOT project experience is a plus.
• HCSS HeavyJob experience is a plus.
• Based in the Tampa Bay area or willing to relocate.
• Experience managing multiple activities on heavy civil work.

Responsibilities

• Review the contract and specifications in their entirety.
• Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent on day-to-day project needs.
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6.
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting.
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts.
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing.
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings.
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy.
• Keep NPDES permits, the SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements with the owner on track.
