Independence Excavating is seeking a Project Engineer to streamline planning and coordination of initiatives while managing budgets, compliance, and scheduling. The role focuses on interpreting drawings, soliciting quotes, and maintaining cost controls across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3–4 years of related construction experience.
• Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multi-site projects.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and specs.
• Solicit quotes from subs and suppliers.
• Review production estimates with Superintendents to finalize the bid.
• Prepare detailed schedules and maintain them.
• Assemble job cost codes and update projections.
• Prepare details for PM to submit pay estimates.
• Monitor production, resource use, and job costs to maintain margins.
• Track close-out activities and provide as-built docs and manuals.
• Other tasks as needed.
