Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to oversee all aspects of assigned projects, including budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts and purchase orders.

The role reports to the Senior Project Manager and requires interaction with owners. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in large commercial construction, strong organizational skills, and the ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience managing large commercial construction projects.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks across sites.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with owners, engineers and local officials.
• Capable of managing people, budgets, schedules and quality across several sites.
• Competent in complete take-offs and estimates.
• Willing and able to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and return submittals for manufactured or provided items.
• Coordinate with Superintendent/Operations Manager on equipment and crew needs.
• Assemble and regularly update job cost codes.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries on major items.
• Review and approve subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices.
• Negotiate, close, and coordinate Extra Work Orders and CORs.
• Monitor production, resource use and job cost vs. estimates to protect profit margin.
• Prepare monthly job cost/profit projections.
