Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer in Sterling, VA to streamline planning and coordination of project initiatives while maintaining budgets, compliance regulations and scheduling.

The role focuses on interpreting drawings, soliciting subcontractor quotes, and preparing detailed schedules to keep projects on track. Ideal candidates have 3-4 years of related construction experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage budgets across

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3-4 years of related construction experience required.
• Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage budget, schedule, and multiple sites.
• Experience with take-offs and estimates.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review estimated productions with Superintendents to finalize the bid.
• Prepare detailed schedules and maintain them.
• Assemble job cost codes and regularly update them.
• Prepare detail for Project Manager to submit pay estimates to Owners.
• Monitor production, resources, and job cost vs. estimate to maintain profit margin.
• Monitor close-out activities: punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, final estimate/retainer.
