Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Oakland-area accounting team. You will manage accounts, assist with month-end close, prepare client invoices, and review project costs with accuracy and reliability.

The role reports to our Oakland office one day per week and offers a hybrid-remote schedule for the rest of the week. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Accounting, have strong Excel skills, and can interface with project managers, clients, and architects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a combination of education and experience.
• Experience in Architecture or Engineering industry is preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills (written and oral).
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Solid knowledge of Excel.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to interface with project managers, clients, and architects.
• Deltek Vantagepoint Accounting system experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end closing process and reconciliations.
• Prepare invoices for clients and review draft invoices for appropriate labor and expense charges. Ensure accuracy with billing rates and billing ceilings. Make appropriate changes and reclassifications.
• Assist Project Manager in reviewing project costs (budget vs actual).
• Research client invoicing questions and fulfill client requests for invoice support documentation.
• Prepare project financial reports (i.e. WIP aging, AR aging, project budget vs actual).
• Support project managers in project setup and project maintenance in Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve project billing issues.
• Perform other assignments as required.
