James A. Haley Veterans' Healthcare System is seeking a Program Support Assistant (PSA) in the Social Work department to support the Non-Institutional Care program (PCS) within Geriatrics & Extended Care.

This on-site role requires coordinating administrative tasks, data management, and timekeeping to ensure timely program milestones and accurate reporting. Qualified applicants have at least one year of specialized experience at GS-5 or equivalent, or education/combination as allowed.

Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation.
  • Experience tracking program milestones, suspense dates, and funding accomplishments.
  • Experience entering, gathering, and summarizing program statistics and communicating findings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an automated system to track suspense dates on milestones and reports.
  • Performs data-related tasks: entering, gathering, pulling, tracking, and summarizing program statistics.
  • Types a variety of documents into final form with correct grammar and formatting.
  • Coordinates activities with other administrative staff to ensure efficient flow of work.
  • Performs timekeeping operations for the service.

Job description

The Program Support Assistant (PSA) works in the Social Work department, at James A. Haley Veterans' Healthcare System. The PSA is responsible for performing administrative assistance involving support of the Non-Institutional Care (NIC) program, also know as Personal Care Services (PCS), within the Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC) Programs. This position is located under the guidance of the Social Work Service, GEC. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/16/2026.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education s described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
    • Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.
    • Completes data related tasks such as entering, gathering, pulling, tracking, and summarizing program statistics and other data as needed to support the programs and communicates information to appropriate stakeholders for further action.
    • Types a variety of documents into final form, ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and style.
    • Coordinates activities with other administrative support staff and departments to ensure efficient flow of work.
    • Performs any items pertaining to timekeeping operations for the needs of the service.
