Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a skilled engineer for Parts/Components/Applications Engineering to support obsolescence management across proposal, system design, low-rate production, and production phases. The role interfaces with design, contracts, estimating, supply chain, and program management onsite.

The candidate will lead obsolescence mitigation strategies, conduct program-level SOW and requirements work, and collaborate with IPT members to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with proactive and reactive component obsolescence management methodologies.
• Experience with data collection, analysis, and presentation of system impact of obsolescence issues.
• Experience with project management, schedules, costs, and stakeholder needs during obsolescence processes.
• Financial and Contract Management experience with proposals, BOE, EVMs, SOWs, CLINs and CDRLs.

Responsibilities

• Understand and/or generate a program statement of work (SOW) and other defined customer component application requirements.
• Develop and/or sustain a proactive Obsolescence Management process to deliver cost saving obsolescence mitigation strategies and solutions.
• Drive resolution through support or execution of lifetime buys, alternate parts selections, redesigns, or other mitigation strategies and will support contract negotiations, basis of estimates, and supplier statements of work for proposals.
• Interact with Program and customer leadership to communicate mitigation status on a regular basis.
• Conduct trade studies to identify cost-effective obsolescence-driven cut-in points for proposed unit redesigns.
