Job summary

Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a Program Accountant to manage financial activities for assigned programs and ensure adherence to federal and nonprofit financial rules. The role supports budget creation, monthly monitoring, and closeout processes under the Director of Finance.

The position handles program budgets, grants, and financial reporting, collaborating with program managers to maintain accuracy and timeliness across multiple initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field.
• 3 years’ accounting experience, nonprofit context preferred.
• Experience with general ledger maintenance and journal entries.
• Knowledge of GAAP and cost allocations for programs.
• Experience with Federal grants and OMB knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Conducts financial analysis and forecasting of revenues and expenditures.
• Analyzes past and present financial operations and estimates future revenues and expenditures for budgets.
• Develops program and grant budgets and performs budget revisions as necessary.
• Records funds received to the programs/grants assigned to the role.
• Works with Program Directors on a monthly basis to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
• Maintains a multitude of Program Budgets totaling over $5 million.
• Assists in audit preparation, budgets, projections and related tasks.
• Stays compliant with federal, state, and local grant requirements.
