Job description

Purpose:

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, recognized globally for leadership in cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment, is the region's only comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute. It is a leading institution in western Pennsylvania for cancer care, research, and education, contributing significantly to the global effort to reduce cancer's burden.

We are currently hiring a Professional Staff Nurse, ONC (RN) to support the UPMC Passavant Medical Oncology network team located in McCandless/Pittsburgh, PA. This position offers a $6,000 sign-on bonus and involves a regular full-time daylight schedule, Monday through Friday, as a Treatment/Infusion Nurse working with the North Hills Passavant medical oncology team caring for a large practice of oncology patients. The incumbent will also assist with triage responsibilities as needed.

The Professional Staff Nurse, a registered nurse, is part of the care delivery team and is responsible for setting standards for the quality of care provided. The role involves managing and delivering patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members. It encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision.

This nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes across the continuum of care. The role demonstrates a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

• Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives within the department or unit. Identify opportunities for improvement, share insights with colleagues and management, and take personal responsibility for enhancing patient satisfaction and clinical care quality. Use research and evidence-based practices to support improvements, discuss research findings during multidisciplinary rounds, and influence patient care plans.
• Maintain accountability for professional development to enhance practice quality and patient care. Engage in unit-based governance, goal setting, and support change initiatives to improve care quality and the work environment. Be an engaged team member, respond to team needs, and support a collaborative care environment. Adapt to changes and demonstrate flexibility.
