Purpose:

Position Overview:

We are hiring a Limited Casual Professional Staff Nurse (RN), ONC to support our medical oncology network offices in Irwin & Mt. Pleasant, PA. This role primarily involves Treatment/Infusion nursing on a casual, as-needed daylight schedule, Monday through Friday, working across various offices as needed.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Professional Staff Nurse, a registered nurse, is a key member of the care team responsible for setting standards of care quality. This role involves managing and providing patient care activities with independence, judgment, communication, and collaboration. The nurse will establish collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The role also encompasses leadership, partnership, and supervision, demonstrating a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:
  1. Apply adult learning principles in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff. Provide detailed education to support patient care and transitions. Support the development of students and new staff, potentially serving as a preceptor. Foster an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
  2. Take accountability for professional development to enhance practice and patient care quality. Participate in unit-based governance, goal setting, and support change initiatives. Be an engaged team member, responding to care team needs and contributing to quality improvement efforts.
  3. Develop and maintain productive relationships with colleagues and external partners. Demonstrate accountability, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity. Balance work and personal life, practicing safe work hours and effective communication of safety concerns.
  4. Utilize the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. Develop daily goals and care plans that involve patients as partners, considering holistic needs. Use critical thinking to address clinical and psychosocial issues, ensuring comprehensive documentation and effective communication. Incorporate professional and organizational goals to enhance safety, quality, and patient satisfaction. Build compassionate relationships to foster a healing environment.
  5. Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities for enhancement, contribute to patient satisfaction efforts, and utilize research and evidence-based practices to improve clinical care.
