Job summary

Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Production Operator I to join our manufacturing team. You will set up and run a mechanical metal stamping press, perform changeovers, load steel coils, and operate a pendant-controlled overhead crane to assist with production.

The role requires basic blueprint reading, essential math and computer skills, and the ability to communicate in English. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a valid driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• Stamp press experience required.
• Basic understanding of blueprints.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic reading, writing, computer and math skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic English.
• Valid driver’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run mechanical metal stamping press.
• Conduct changeovers.
• Load and thread steel coils.
• Operate small overhead crane (pendant controlled).
• Understand basic metal stamping press controls.
• Basic troubleshooting to ensure efficient machine production.
• Perform shop order functions, packing instructions and labeling requirements.
• Perform all quality functions and checks.
• Follow safety procedures and quality controls.
• Inspect parts and machinery for errors.
• Other duties as assigned.
