Job summary

Knape & Vogt in Grand Rapids is seeking a Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will operate precision press equipment, perform tooling and setup tasks, and monitor quality and production output.

The ideal candidate has experience with punch/transfer presses, die setting, blueprints reading, and measurement tools. This full-time role offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience operating punch and transfer presses.
• Experience with die setting.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints.
• Able to print/read blueprints and inspect parts with calipers/micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Operate precision presses safely and consistently.
• Assist with tooling changes, material changes, and machine setups.
• Monitor cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality.
• Identify and report defects during runs.

What Will You Get To Do:

• Operate precision slide/multi-slide or four-slide presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production
• Assist with performing tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups
• Recognize defects such as incorrect bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, scratches, deformation, or other nonconforming conditions
• Monitor the cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality throughout the run

What Will You Bring:

• Previous punch press and transfer press experience
• Experience with Die setting
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Ability to print and read blueprints
• Previous experience using using calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, and other inspection equipment to verify parts meet specifications
• Basic reading, writing, computer and math skills
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic English
• Ability to efficiently work in a high fast paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. while standing for long periods of time
