Job summary

Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company in Grand Rapids is seeking a Press Operator to join our team on 1st shift (7:00am-3:00pm). You will operate precision presses, feed material, and monitor production to ensure safety and quality.

Ideal candidates have press operator experience, mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints. We offer competitive pay, benefits and growth opportunities in a long‑standing manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate presses safely and consistently, including starting/stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production
• Assist with tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups
• Recognize defects and monitor quality, scrap, downtime during runs
• Monitor cycle times and production metrics

What Will You Get To Do:

• Operate precision slide/multi-slide or four-slide presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production
• Assist with performing tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups
• Recognize defects such as incorrect bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, scratches, deformation, or other nonconforming conditions
• Monitor the cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime, and quality throughout the run

What Will You Bring:

• Previous press operator experience
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Ability to print and read blueprints
• Previous experience using using calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, and other inspection equipment to verify parts meet specifications
• Basic reading, writing, computer and math skills
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic English
• Ability to efficiently work in a high fast paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. while standing for long periods of time
