Job summary

Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company in Grand Rapids is seeking a Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will operate precision presses, monitor production, and ensure parts meet quality standards.

Open on first shift (7:00am-3:00pm), with competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for training and advancement. Ideal candidates bring hands-on press experience and a mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• Previous press operator experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges and comparators to verify parts meet specs.
• Basic reading, writing, computer and math skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand basic English.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate precision presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material and monitoring production.
• Assist with tooling changes, material changes, adjustments and machine setups.
• Recognize defects such as bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, scratches, deformation or other nonconforming conditions.
• Monitor cycle performance, scrap, production quantities, downtime and quality throughout the run.

What Will You Get To Do:

• Operate precision slide/multi-slide or four-slide presses safely and consistently, including starting, stopping, feeding material, and monitoring production
• Assist with performing tooling changes, material changes, adjustments, and machine setups
• Recognize defects such as incorrect bends, dimensional variation, burrs, cracks, scratches, deformation, or other nonconforming conditions
