Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a Product Strategist, Consultant for Self-Funded & Buy-Ups to translate market insights and client needs into actionable product strategies, helping drive growth and profitability. The role supports roadmaps, competitive insights, and strategic recommendations reporting to the Director of Self Funded & Buy-Ups.

The position emphasizes collaboration, leadership development, and delivering results the right way while fostering continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree or high school diploma with 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree; master's preferred
• Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience in product strategy/management/portfolio management
• Experience in product strategy, roadmap development, business case creation, and evaluating product performance and profitability drivers
• Experience in market research, competitive intelligence, and financial/operational analysis
• Deep understanding of health plan products, market dynamics, and regulatory environments
• Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Knowledge of self-funded business is preferred
• Experience writing technical requirements for product launch preferred
• Intermediate to advanced data analysis including pivot tables, charts, data tables, sensitivity analysis, financial modeling, and charting
• Ability to productize and monetize vendor capabilities for clients
