Job summary

Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA, seeks a PBX Operator PRN to manage incoming calls, direct visitors, and support efficient hospital communications. You will monitor alarms, route calls, and assist with extensions and billing for external lines.

Preferred candidates have 2–5 years of switchboard or customer service experience; medical terminology is a plus. The role supports our security and patient care operations on a PRN basis.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years’ experience switchboard operator/customer service experience is preferred.
• Medical terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promptly answer all incoming calls and assist in placing outgoing calls.
• Greet hospital visitors and provide accurate directions; respond to pages/alarms and notify appropriate personnel.
• Place and process long distance calls and assist extensions with billing and outside lines.
• Process, forward and deliver patient mail and flowers with volunteer assistance.
