Job summary

Retreat Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking a part-time PRN PBX Operator to join its patient-centered communications team. You will promptly answer incoming calls, place outgoing calls, direct overhead pages to appropriate personnel, and welcome hospital visitors with clear directions.

This role supports security and clinical operations by responding to code phone/alarm events and assisting with department paging.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years’ experience switchboard operator/customer service experience is preferred.
• Medical terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promptly answer all incoming and assist in placing out-going calls.
• Overhead page appropriate personnel and greet hospital visitors with directions.
• Respond to code phone or code wall panel alarms and notify appropriate personnel.
• Monitor fire panel alarms and phones as applicable and assist with billing and extensions.
• Process, forward and deliver patient mail and flowers with volunteer staff.
