Vance Thompson Vision seeks a PRN Ambulatory Surgery Center Registered Nurse to join our team as our new Surgery Center opens in February 2027. We are hiring for a start in January 2027 at our state‑of‑the‑art facility, offering an opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care in a growing program.

Ideal candidates have completed an accredited RN program, hold a current RN license, and bring a patient‑centered approach.

Qualifications

• Completed an accredited RN program from a university or technical school.
• Current, valid RN license within the state of practice.
• Previous hospital and/or surgery center experience preferred, not required.

Responsabilités

• Obtain patients’ medical history and perform physical assessment for assigned patients.
• Initiate a patient education plan according to individualized needs and policy; explain procedures and treatments to gain cooperation.
• Observe patients, record vital signs, and notify physician of changes in condition or reactions.
• Maintain patient comfort and safety; respond to emergencies per nursing standards and policies.
• Prepare the patient for the anticipated surgical procedure, obtain informed consent, perform pre‑op assessment, and administer meds as required.
• Communicate with circulating nurse, recovery room nurse, anesthesia provider, and surgeon to coordinate a safe surgical experience.
• Assess patient and ensure safety in recovering from anesthesia and medications.
• Explain post‑operative care requirements to the patient.
• Collaborate with perioperative nursing staff, anesthesia providers, and the surgeon.

Our new Surgery Center opens in February 2027! We are looking for a PRN Ambulatory Surgery Center Registered Nurse to join our team in January 2027.

You Will Make An Impact By

• Obtaining patients’ medical history and performing physical assessment for assigned patients.
• Initiating a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or practice policy including patient and family instruction; explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding and alleviate apprehension.
• Observing patients, recording significant conditions and reactions and notifies Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents; takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
• Maintaining awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients; responds to emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
• Being responsible for preparing the patient for the anticipated surgical procedure, including obtaining an informed consent, completing a pre‑operative patient assessment, and performing any procedure or administering medications required to prepare the patient for surgery
• Communicating with the circulating nurse, the recovery room nurse, the anesthesia care provider, and the surgeon to coordinate a safe and comfortable surgical experience.
• Being responsible for patient assessment and maintaining the patient’s safety in recovering from anesthetic and surgical medications
• Ensuring that the patient understands their post‑operative care requirements.
• Collaborating with other perioperative nursing staff, anesthesia care providers and the surgeon.

You Have

• Successfully completed an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program from a university or technical school
• A current, valid RN license within the state of practice
• Previous experience in a hospital and/or surgery center preferred not required
