Job summary

Homestead Health Care, based in Dearborn, MI, is seeking Private Duty caregivers to support elderly clients in their homes. The role offers 4 to 12-hour shifts with starting pay at $18.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience.
• Experience passing medications.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid Driver License/Insurance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation.
• Travel max of 25 miles.
• Weekend Availability.

Responsibilities

• Use of transfer assistive devices, including Hoyer lifts, sit to stand, gait belts and slide board.
• Assisting residents with daily living activities such as transferring in and out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming and walking.
• Evaluate changes in client’s health, conferring with other healthcare team members as needed.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment which may include light housekeeping.
• Use and cleaning of devices such as catheters, colostomy bags and oxygen supplies.
• Assess for changes in condition and communicate immediately to supervisor.
• Develop and implement meaningful life enrichment activities.
• Following schedule, assisting residents with repositioning.
• Transport client to doctors’ appointments or shopping.
• Complete all required documents and charting.
• Plan, shop for and prepare nutritious meals.
• Provide companionship for the client.
• Follow all Homestead policies and procedures.
