Job summary

Homestead Health Care in Bloomfield Hills, MI is seeking Private Duty caregivers for flexible 4–12 hour shifts. Starting pay is $18.00/hour. The role supports elderly clients in their homes, with opportunities for growth and ongoing training.

Current client needs include evening hours from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, with weekend availability and reliable transportation. Responsibilities include transfers, daily living assistance, health assessments, and compassionate companionship, all while maintaining

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience.
• Experience passing medications.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid Driver License/Insurance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Travel Max of 25 miles.
• Weekend Availability.

Responsibilities

• Use of transfer assistive devices (Hoyer lifts, sit to stand, gait belts, slide board).
• Assist residents with daily living activities (transfers, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, walking).
• Evaluate changes in client health, coordinate with healthcare team.
• Maintain cleanliness of the environment (light housekeeping).
• Use and clean devices (catheters, colostomy bags, oxygen).
• Assess changes and inform supervisor.
• Develop meaningful life enrichment activities.
• Follow schedule and reposition residents.
• Transport clients to appointments or shopping.
• Complete documents and charting.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals.
• Provide companionship.
• Follow Homestead policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Use of transfer assistive devices, including but not limited to Hoyer lifts, sit to stand, gait belts and slide board
• Assisting residents with daily living activities such as transferring in and out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming and walking
• Evaluate changes in client’s health, conferring with other healthcare team members as needed
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment which may include light housekeeping
• Use and cleaning of devices such as catheters, colostomy bags and oxygen supplies
• Assess for changes in condition and communicate immediately to supervisor
• Develop and implement meaningful life enrichment activities
• Following schedule, assisting residents with repositioning
• Transport client to doctors’ appointments or shopping
• Complete all required documents and charting
• Plan, shop for and prepare nutritious meals
• Provide companionship for the client
• Follow all Homestead policies and procedures

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience
